We love Scandinavian beds for their minimalist appearance, functional design, and casual comfort. Scandinavian home design is known for its understated elegance and simplistic beauty. You won’t find a Scandinavian style bed that looks complicated or overbearing. Rather, these types of beds blend right into the space. You can decorate these beds almost any way you want because they are so basic. No matter what style of bedroom decor you’ve chosen, a nordic style bed could be the right fit if you’re looking for an understated, functional place to sleep.
Scandinavian Beds
So what does a Scandi style bed look like? Scandinavian beds are typically made of high quality wood. They may have hairpin legs or other thin legs. The design is often composed of straight or gently curving lines. Nothing about these beds seems too unusual. Like most Scandinavian decor and design, function comes before form. If you’re looking for a Scandinavian bed to add to your guest room or master bedroom, then here are our favorite options!
Choosing a bed is a tough decision that should be reflected on for some time before making the purchase. As the central piece to the bedroom and a key part in our well-being, the bed is not a choice to make rapidly.
This Scandi style bed has been decorated with neutral linens and a faded pink blanket on the bed. A small piece of art hangs above the white headboard of the bed, and dark blue curtains hang near the window. It’s a great example of understated, minimal taste when it comes to nordic beds.

Happy decorating!
I have a teak Scandinavian bed (low profile). I’ve had it for fifty years and was always able to replace the mattress with an innerspring that measured 5 inches thick, and always from a major manufacturer. I’ve searched and searched and have been unable to locate a replacement. All I can find are either foam or a rolled up variety.
Loving the list of Scandinavian beds! I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect minimalist bed for my small Stockholm apartment, and these recommendations are spot on. The Hans Wagner Bed is at the top of my list – the sleek design and minimalist aesthetic are perfect for my sparse, Nordic-inspired home. Can’t wait to try out one of these beds for myself!
