We recently added a kitchen island to our family’s summer home, and I began my search for the perfect coastal style counter chairs to furnish the new space! There are so many coastal counter chairs to choose from, and it’s hard to know which ones are going to last. That’s why I’ve rounded up several highly rated coastal bar stools for you to choose from if you’re looking to furnish a counter in your coastal home’s kitchen.
I must stress that all of these counter chairs are differing in height so be sure to measure the height of your own bar or counter before purchasing! It would be a shame to purchase a beautiful coastal bar-height chair for a beach home only to find it’s too small or tall!

When it comes to coastal decor and furniture, natural materials are preferable. Coastal bar stools and counter height chairs come in a variety of durable materials, but my favorites are: whitewashed wood, wicker, rattan, and natural wood. Some are accented with rope or woven into a pretty pattern. Some can be used outside, and others are for indoor use only, so be sure to read the description before purchasing!

Deciding between a counter height chair versus a bar stool can be tough, but personally I prefer counter height chairs as I know I will have a variety of guests who will come through. Having a back rest is ideal to ensure that everyone is comfortable. Bar stools can be great if you know there are only going to be young people passing through! Personally I find them uncomfortable, but I know most kids don’t mind. The choice is really going to be up to you and your needs.
