9 Best Full-Length Mirrors for the Home

As you know, there are many different types of mirrors, from the smallest and most compact that accompanies you everywhere in your wallet to the extra-large, wide and tall mirrors that seem too big to be real!

Today we’re going to talk about mirrors on the larger end, also known as full-length mirrors.

Types of Full-Length Mirrors

A mirror is just a polished surface, which after meeting the light creates a reflection so that we can observe ourselves. Here are the different types of long and thin full-length mirrors. You can find them in many different styles, colors, and materials like brass, wood, metal, silver, black.

Attached to the Wall

The first type of full-length mirror that you will find is one that is meant to be attached to the wall. It generally is attached to the wall with about a foot of height beneath it. This is the least mobile option for a full-length mirror as it must be installed.

Leaning Mirrors

You can also find many leaning wall mirrors, which are basically mirrors that are not attached to the wall and rest directly on the floor. They lean against the wall at an angle allowing you to see your full body reflection. Leaning wall mirrors can be moved around, but they tend to be heavy so they can stay in place without falling, making them not so practical to move around very often.

Freestanding Mirrors

Other times, you can find freestanding full-length mirrors. These mirrors generally have feet or a back end to them which allows them to stand up on their own. They rest on the floor and do not need support from the wall or any other external element. You can move them around quite easily because they are freestanding and generally lightweight.

Purpose of full-length mirrors

As its name suggests, we can understand that its purpose is to provide more space to achieve a greater appreciation of each of your angles and not fight for not reaching to see us perfectly.

Today, almost every home has at least one, sometimes hanging, sometimes leaning on the wall, sometimes on the cabinet doors. Clearly taking into account that we are talking about large mirrors, we will have to choose well its location without a doubt.

Full-Length Mirror FAQ

Here are some common questions about full-length mirrors.

How big should a full-length mirror be?

Full-length mirrors allow us to see our reflection from head to toe at a glance. But what is the minimum size of such a mirror? The minimum measurements should not be random.

Mathematics tells us that a mirror of such a size should be half the length of your height. That way you will see yourself in one piece from any distance. The height above the ground also follows a formula. It should be equal to half the distance between the person’s eyes and feet.

How far off the floor do you hang a full-length mirror?

In addition to bathrooms and toilets, you can also hang mirrors in other places in your home, such as the hallway, living room, or bedrooms. Check that the mirror fits well in the room and fits in with the decor. A mirror can make a room look larger.

Hang the center of the mirror at eye level (average height is 5’6″, but may be slightly less if there are shorter people in your family). Make sure the mirror is large enough to see over your head (so you know that taller people can also use it).

A mirror is an essential accessory in a bathroom or powder room. The mirror should be large enough, it should be at the right height and, ideally, it should also be illuminated. If possible, the light should illuminate the entire area occupied by the mirror.

Where do you hang a full-length mirror?

In addition to bathrooms and bedrooms, you can also hang mirrors in other places in your home, such as the hallway, living room, or entryway. Check that the mirror fits well in the room and fits in with the decor. A mirror can make a room appear larger.
