Winter White & Holiday Red | Two Christmas Decor Themes from Rachel Parcell

Winter White & Holiday Red | Two Christmas Decor Themes from Rachel Parcell

While browsing Rachel Parcell’s beautiful blog Pink Peonies for some decor inspiration, I came across two very distinct styles she put together for Christmas and couldn’t wait to share!

Two years ago, Parcell’s home was filled with red and green decor – the two most festive colors during the holiday season. She laid beautiful greenery paired with decorative red cranberries on mantles and tables around her house. Red ornaments hung from her ceiling lights and green wreaths hung on the backs of her chairs. Bright red ribbons were tied to the backs of her kitchen chairs and a red blanket was thrown across her bed.

This year, Parcell opted for a much more neutral color scheme for her Christmas decor, composed of mostly winter-white with festive metallic accents! White frosted berries were paired with the greenery, white deer figures sat on the mantle, and white stockings were hung in front of her fireplace. The three (yes, 3!) Christmas trees in her living room are as bright-white as can be, with a few silver and gold accents catching the light. This time, white and silver wreaths were hung on the backs of her kitchen chairs, each with a neatly tied bow. A gingerbread house with white frosting was lovingly placed on her white marble kitchen counter.

Check out a few photos from her (past and present) gorgeous Utah home!

My question for you dear readers is which decor style resonates with you more? Personally, I love the festivity of the red and green decor scheme, while the white and metal palette seems much more sophisticated. The red is fun and playful, almost child-like whereas the white is more suited to adults. Of course, they both look absolutely magical to me…

I love the red and white flocked christmas tree. I have been looking for a tree like it for a long time. It’s just beautiful
